What is EC Council University (ECCU)?

ECCU is a globally recognized and fully accredited U.S.-based university specializing in cybersecurity education. We offer industry-aligned degree and non-degree programs and courses designed to transform you into a cybersecurity leader.

EC-Council University is a 100% online institution that offers asynchronous degree and non-degree cybersecurity programs and courses. We do not provide in-person education.
Yes, EC-Council University is accredited by the Distance Education Accrediting Commission (DEAC). The DEAC is listed by the U.S. Department of Education as a recognized accrediting agency. The DEAC is also recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA).

Online Learning

Is an online degree recognized and equivalent to a traditional campus degree?
Yes. Online degrees are recognized and widely accepted as legitimate educational options that offer the same learning and career advancement outcomes that you would get with traditional campus degrees. As ECCU is accredited by the Distance Education Accrediting Commission, you can be assured that all our certifications and degrees meet strict academic standards for quality.
Yes! Most of our students work full-time and manage their studies by learning in the evenings and on weekends. When pursuing an online degree from EC-Council University, you should plan to dedicate 10 to 12 hours per week per class. Depending on your schedule, you can take one or two classes per term to balance work and studies effectively.

To attend EC-Council University’s online courses, students should have access to reliable technology. This includes a computer or laptop (less than 5 years old), high-speed internet connectivity, a webcam, and a headset or speakers with a microphone. Students will also need essential software such as an up-to-date web browser, a PDF reader, and access to their courses through the learning management system (LMS). Microsoft Office web applications—including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook—are provided to enrolled students for completing assignments and communicating with faculty.

We also recommend using antivirus software and backing up coursework through cloud storage or an external drive.

Admissions

What is the student admission process at EC-Council University?

Learners who want to attend EC-Council University must submit a complete application package, which includes:

  • Filling out the online application form
  • Submitting relevant documentation of identification and all prior institutions attended
  • Paying the application fee
  • Submitting official transcripts for evaluation
  • A copy of unofficial transcripts may be submitted for provisional admission
  • Submitting official copies of transcripts for full admission
  • Signing the Student Enrollment Agreement (SEA)

Tuition and Fees

When are my tuition fees due?
The application fee must be paid when you submit your application. The tuition and lab fees for your first class are due upon signing the Student Enrollment Agreement (SEA). The graduation fee is to be paid upon completion of degree requirements. Textbooks, resources, and materials are provided within the courses at no extra cost.
Below is an overview of the total costs for ECCU’s programs:
  • Bachelor of Science in Cybersecurity (BSCS) – $27,900 (+ miscellaneous fees)
  • Master of Science in Cybersecurity (MSCS) – $19,440 (+ miscellaneous fees)
  • Graduate Certificate Programs (GCP) – $4,860 (+ miscellaneous fees)

Yes. At ECCU, you can avail flexible interest-free monthly payment plans that divide your tuition into three equal payments.

Scholarships

Does EC-Council University offer scholarship programs?

Yes, we provide the following scholarship programs:

  • U.S. Community College and Associate Initiative Scholarship: This scholarship is for new U.S. students who have an associate degree or are transferring to ECCU from a U.S. community college or a 2-year technical school. (Learn more)

Once you identify the ECCU program you wish to enroll in and start the application process, our Student Advisory Team will guide you through every step, including presenting you with scholarship options that suit your learning goals and reduce your financial obligations. Please note that scholarships are awarded on a case-by-case basis, depending on your current situation, prior academic or work accomplishments, and other criteria.
Given the limited and selective nature of ECCU’s scholarship opportunities, we generally only provide one cybersecurity scholarship per student. However, this may change under exceptional circumstances, and any decision pertaining to awarding scholarships rests solely at the discretion of the ECCU Scholarship Committee.

It’s simple! You must apply for enrollment in any ECCU cybersecurity program – bachelor’s or master’s degree, or graduate certificate program – and follow the admissions process. During this process, our Scholarship Committee will review your application and determine if you qualify for a particular scholarship. If your application is successful, you will be granted a cybersecurity scholarship, which will be communicated to you before your program begins. Please submit your application well before the deadline to ensure the process is as seamless as possible.

Transferring Credit

What is a transfer credit evaluation?
A transfer credit evaluation is a process in which a college/university reviews your previous transcripts and determines which (and how many) credits are eligible for transfer. An expert evaluator will go through each of your prior courses and make the determination.
Yes, you can transfer credits from a host of EC-Council cybersecurity certifications towards a bachelor’s or master’s program from ECCU. Here’s a list of accepted certifications that can be considered for transferring credit:
  • Certified Network Defender (CND)
  • Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH)
  • Computer Hacking Forensic Investigator (CHFI)
  • Certified Penetration Testing Professional (CPENT)

EC-Council University may consider credits derived from relevant work experience, military, and other non-traditional sources, based on recommendations from the American Council on Education (ACE), National College Credit Recommendation Service (NCCRS), and other appropriate governing bodies. All non-traditional credits will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
